Good book if you didn't understand the play!I think this was a very good book, because I understood much more about the play when I read the cliff notes, that really helped me to get an A on my essay on All's well that ends well.

Antony and Cleopatra (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (September, 1981)
Average review score:

Symbolism and Universal applications of Antony & CleopatraAnthony and cleopatra has a universal theme, because of the concepts of life which deals with true love ,and the quest for power..It is a universal theme because of the tragedy of the two lovers who ends up dead , by not compromising their true love, and it also show that no matter how high a person is , whether she is a queen or an emperor , their lives are still the same as ours. the parallell of their stories would be the same like any regular person, because of the sadness of an unfullileed dream , full of deception. It also deals with the woman 's beauty , and how she uses it to get what she really want to have, and her ability to use her intelligence to get what she wants , by her conniving method of luring Ceasar to her bed. Anthony is a weak guy, because he was in the trap, which, cleopatra has set for him..In the end , they all die, because of the deception of their lives , which are not true.

Aristophanes' Lysistrata: The Birds, The Clouds, The Frogs (Cliffs Notes)
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (April, 1984)
Average review score:

Understanding the comic masterpieces of AristophanesThis Cliffs Notes volume looks at four comedies by Aristophanes, but begins by looking at the three great Greek writers of tragedy, Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides, in order to put the work of the comic playwright in appropriate context. "Lysistrata," the celebrated anti-war play, is covered by providing a List of Characters, followed by Summaries and Commentaries on each scene of the play. However, the other three plays by Aristophanes are covered without breaking the plays into discrete units (although the authors do discuss the specific structure of Greek plays in their analysis of "The Birds"). For two of the plays, "The Birds" and "The Frogs," there are specific points of analysis signposted in the commentary section, but for the most part this little yellow book with the black stripes deals with these plays comprehensively. Those who like to find specific sections dealing with particular literary elements will find this volume to be a little less user-friendly. As always, the analysis is first rate, especially if you have read the plays are therefore able to absorb the additional insights.

Good theme.........just like clueless......=)IT's a prettie good book....romantic and it had a good plot to it. Although it contains some less interesting parts to it...but it can reallie capture your attention if you're the type to read romantic and melo books...less adventerous..but more of a female romance book. It's a good book..but not the best.

Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (August, 1991)
Average review score:

fullfiling but not intriguingIt DOES make the whole issue of understanding the autobiography quite irrelevant. However, if you have to take a quotes tests on the book, i don't recommend. Other then that, I now know the autobiography of benjamin Franklin, It helped alot! Use it - not necessarily with the full book.

Barron's Esl Guide to American Business English
Published in Paperback by Barrons Educational Series (October, 1998)
Average review score:

An Excellent ESL Source But...As a teacher of ESL at the private college, I found Barron's ESL Guide to American Business English an excellent source for newcomers to American business practices. Unfortunately while the book targets the ESL population, it still requires significant English literacy skills to read and understand. Given the complexity of the subject matter, it's probably as simplified as possible. Includes eighty different documents covering a wide range of correspondence with concise instructions; "Words to Watch For", a vocabulary word listing provides definitions for key words at the beginning of many chapters; extensive table of contents and index, makes it relatively easy to locate particular areas of interest.

Barron's How to Prepare for the Graduate Record Examination - GRE
Published in Hardcover by Barron's Educational Series (December, 1985)
Average review score:

Great helper for Analytical and Vocabulary !Though i found the Barron's analytical problems a bit harder than any other analytical problems in all the other books like Big Book, Arco's, Kaplan and Princeton Review but they helped me alot in building the true understanding of how to solve the difficult ones in the GRE. In my opinion the time limit given for analytical sections should not be taken into account and tests should be taken untimed and the real goal should be to get all the questions right. Using the above mentioned process when i finished the 10 analytical test sections i got almost perfect in solving the analytical type questions which are logic games etc. To develop speed, however, big book which then looks easier after doing all these problems should be done and then timing for CAT can be developed taking some software tests of Kaplan, Princeton Review and in the end Powerprep. I got 790 in Analytical as a result of all this. The words given in word lists are very important and often come in the real GRE. So if you are able to cram all these words then you'll definitely score high in GRE.

Barron's New Student's Concise Encyclopedia

A Must-Have For Students and the CuriousMy mom gave me this encyclopedia in college 8 years ago and wrote in it, "Maybe this will save a few trips to the library!" It certainly did. It has information on just about anything you want, organized by discipline. It also has pictures and maps, as well as information on living independently. It can be a little short under each topic, but that is due to the amount of information. I still use it in my teaching, though!
